We are looking for an energetic Assistant in Nursing who thrives on supporting older persons with daily living at our state of the art residential aged care facility in Birkdale. The successful incumbent will be motivated, flexible and able to coordinate with strong interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative approach to quality service delivery. The role requires a person who is skillful in the current knowledge, practice and management of all aspects of day to day responsibilities and thrives on assisting Residents with activities of daily living.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with bathing, grooming and getting dressed
- Handling household tasks like groceries, shopping and laundry
- Preparing and serving meals at the appropriate time
- Providing mental and emotional support
- Making recommendations to family members and healthcare personnel on the plan of care
- Organising suitable recreational activities for our Residents
- Collaborating with other health care and social care professionals to provide the best possible care
- Answer call signals, signal lights, bells in a timely manner
- Transfers, transportation and manual handling of residents including positioning and repositioning of residents
What We're Looking For You will have a flexible, caring, patient attitude and an ability to work in a professional and proficient manner. Qualifications - Minimum Cert III (Aged Care)
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificates
- Current NDIS Check (Yellow Card) or willingness to obtain one
Experience - Broad experience as an Assistant in Nursing in a Community or Residential Aged Care setting highly regarded
- Sound knowledge of general nursing and personal care practices, including infection control procedures
- Sound knowledge of the key tasks associated with assisting residents with activities of daily living
- Broad experience working within WH&S, Quality and Environmental legislative frameworks
- Demonstrated understanding of the Aged Care legislative framework, Aged Care Quality Standards with Aged Care sector and Residential Care experience preferred
Essential Skills - The ability to work with frail and/or confused Residents and their families
within the Accreditation Standards and funding guidelines - Basic knowledge of the aging process and the ability to communicate effectively
- The ability to accept direction and to work in a team environment with minimal supervision
- The ability or willingness to speak or learn Dutch/Spanish and an understanding of the Dutch/Spanish culture history will be highly regarded
- The ability to work in a culturally sensitive manner within an ethno-specific environment
- A flexible, caring and patient attitude
- A basic knowledge of Work Health and Safety procedures
