The Role The Lifestyle Coordinator will provide quality person directed lifestyle programs that meet personal needs, individual care plan and accreditation requirements. The role is key to infusing our Residents with holistic wellbeing that is vital for their physical, emotional, cultural, mental and social wellbeing.
The position operates within an aged care service that includes residential and community services. In that context the position is accountable to the Facility Manager for the day-to-day provision of a lifestyle program that meets the interests, needs and desires of Residents in order to maintain independence and enhance their quality of life. Lifestyle programs will be developed and implemented in line with MiCare policies, philosophies and continuous improvement, HACC National Standards, Commonwealth Aged Care Act, Residential Care Standards and the Charter of Resident Rights. Some of the key responsibilities of the role include: - Plan and coordinate a range of social and recreational activities and develop activities to maintain individual personal living skills and independence
- Ensure program documentation is completed in accordance to organisational and departmental guidelines
- Manage the program with budget parameters
- Programs and activities reflect preference; meet social and recreational needs, encourage independence and participation and meets defined program objectives
- The needs of Residents with dementia and other specific requirements including cultural or religious differences are reflected in program delivery
- Liaison with MiCare’s other lifestyle staff to arrange programs and share resources
Qualifications - Certificate IV in Leisure and Health
- Certificate III Aged Care preferred
- A qualification relevant to the role and function of this position’
- Membership of a professional association related to lifestyle programs desirable
Skills - Previous experience coordinating lifestyle programs in an aged care environment
Previous experience in this capacity in a community and/or residential setting preferred - Experience in working within Accreditation Standards and funding guidelines
Ability to work with minimal supervision. - Comfortable in communicating with elderly persons who may be frail and have levels of cognitive impairment
- The ability to work in a culturally sensitive manner within an ethno-specific environment.
- The ability /willingness to learn/speak Dutch or another language advantageous
- Your previous experience working as a Personal Care Assistant would be highly advantageous
