We are looking for a Permanent Part Time Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly kitchen team in Birkdale.  


Part time permanent position with a guaranteed minimum of

60 hours per fortnight

About the role ... 


We are looking for a Permanent Part Time Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly kitchen team in Birkdale.  


A key function of the role is to assist with the effective and efficient overall operations of the kitchen.  The successful incumbent will maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen, they will take part in accreditation, OH&S, infection control programs within the kitchen with a specific focus on the needs of the customer.  



About you ... 


You will have a flexible, caring, patient attitude.  You will have a preparedness to work to the 10 principles of the Eden Alternative philosophy.



  • Certificate in Food handling/ Food Safety



  • A genuine interest in cooking
  • An ability to work independently and in a team environment, exercise sound judgement and make decisions based on accurate information and in a timely fashion
  • Ability to follow directions in accordance with Health Regulations and the Food Safety Act
  • The ability to work systematically and hygienically
  • The ability to work in a culturally sensitive manner with an ethno-specific environment
  • Good verbal, reading and written communication skills
  • An interest in cultural cooking
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail with all tasks.
  • Food handling experience preferred but not essential

A police check with no disclosable outcome, medicare evidence of current flu vaccination and a COVID-19 vaccination, including dose 3 is required by MiCare for this position.


A commitment to work exclusively with MiCare Residential Aged Care facility as your only employer during COVID-19 will be highly regarded.
