About the role ... 

We are looking for a Physiotherapist for our Residential Aged Care Facility in Birkdale.  The Physiotherapist will work as part of a small team of Clinicians, reporting to the Facility Manager to ensure the delivery of effective evidence based clinical services through professional and technical knowledge.  

The position plays a pivotal role supporting the quality of life of our valued Elders keeping them independent and active, while also helping them to manage chronic illness and pain.  The Physiotherapist will be responsible for assessing, planning, administering and supervising the provision of physiotherapy for treatment and preventative care. The role will also support with inductions, buddy shifts, and student supervision / education and will provide additional support to clinicians as directed by the Facility Manager.  Some of the key responsibilities include:

• Assist in mentoring and orientating new clinicians to MiCare policies and Procedures where appropriate and as directed by the Facility Manager
• Compliance with safe practice for Elders, participants, and other staff in manual handling / no-lift techniques and use of equipment
• Contribute to Quality Standards and AN-ACC documentation as per MiCare directive
• Assess, plan and implement appropriate individual best practice programs for each Elder with specific interventions, frequency and duration
• Evaluate if current interventions are meeting goals and outcomes for the Elder and adjust as required 
• Attend Family Case Conferences and consult with General Practitioners on best outcomes for Elders

About you ... 

You will have a flexible, caring, patient attitude and an ability to work in a professional and proficient manner.  You will also have excellent time management skills.

Qualifications

• Physiotherapy (Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent)
• Current Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

Skills:

• Demonstrated Knowledge of Aged Care Services and relevant legislation
• Ensure all documentation complies with the Aged Care Quality Standards
• Comply with all current MiCare policies and procedures including aged care legislation and Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI) requirements
• Compliance with all AN-ACC standards and relevant associated protocols
• Ability to assess, diagnose, treat conditions related to body movement and function
• Ability to prevent or manage disease and disability through movement and exercise
• Ability to administer a range of treatments to alleviate pain and restore function
• The ability to work in a culturally specific environment.

A police check with no disclosable outcome, current flu vaccination and a COVID-19 vaccination, including dose 3 is required by MiCare for this position.

A commitment to work exclusively with MiCare Residential Aged Care facility as your only employer during COVID-19 will be highly regarded.
