About the role ... 

 

The Coordinator Volunteers will provide assistance to the Volunteer Coordination team within Victoria and Queensland and ensure that directions from the Manager Volunteers are undertaken by the team.  It is also to ensure that all legislative and departmental requirements are met.

 

The position will support the Manager Volunteers with the overall management of the Volunteer program, including but not limited to recruitment, orientation and ongoing training of eligible volunteers for Clients in accordance with program guidelines and procedures and assist with Client assessments. There will be travelling involved both metropolitan and state-wide.  Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate the activities of the programs of MiCare Ltd within budget allocation and provide input into MiCare’s future strategic planning process
  • Ensure that the Friendly Visiting Program, Community Visiting and Telelink programs are provided to the highest professional standard of service and to recommend strategies to the Manager Volunteers to meet those needs
  • Ensure that where possible, programs are delivered in the community’s own ethnic group and whenever able, cater for the preferences of that ethnic group
  • Assist other staff and undertake Client assessments and provide ongoing Client support
  • Support the Manager Volunteers with recruitment, orientation and ongoing training of eligible volunteers for Clients in accordance with program guidelines and procedure
  • Assist the Manager Volunteers to complete government reporting requirements
  • Chair meetings and/or take minutes of meeting

 

About you ... 

 

Your demonstrated interest in culturally and linguistically diverse services, strong interpersonal skills, flexibility and excellent administration skills will be highly regarded.  You will possess a flexible, caring and patient attitude.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Qualifications in Community Services or Aged Care are desirable
  • A current Victorian Drivers Licence is mandatory.

 

Skills:

  • A working knowledge of Volunteerism in Aged care services preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of the community services sector.
  • The ability to work in a culturally sensitive manner within an ethno-specific environment.
  • The ability to work with frail and/or confused Clients and their families.
  • The ability to work within a team environment and with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional and staff development.
  • Experience working in a Volunteer capacity desirable
  • Demonstrated computer skills including accuracy and numeric skills
  • The ability to speak another language preferred

 

A police check with no disclosable outcome, current medicare evidence of current influenza vaccination and full COVID-19 vaccination, including dose 3 is required by MiCare for this position.

 

A commitment to work exclusively with MiCare Residential Aged Care facility as your only employer during COVID-19 will be highly regarded.
