About the role ... We are looking for an experienced and qualified Personal Care Assistant for our two small Residential Aged Care Facilities in Kilsyth. Achieve work/life balance by working closer to home and trade the busyness of the city for a more idyllic suburban pace. Our ideal incumbent will thrive on building strong rapport with our valuable elders and their families, delivering over and above quality care by supporting their daily care needs, completing vital documentation and being a strong contributor to a passionate team! In a role with plenty of variety, your experience, motivation, flexibility and collaborative approach to quality service delivery will be highly regarded. Some of the key responsibilities of the role include: - Assisting with bathing, grooming and getting dressed
- Handling household tasks like grocery shopping and laundry
- Preparing and serving meals at the appropriate time
- Administering oral and topical medication under the supervision
of medical personnel - Providing mental and emotional support
- Making recommendations to family members and healthcare
personnel on the plan of care - Organising suitable recreational activities for our elders
Collaborating with other health care and social care professionals to provide the best possible care
Qualifications - Minimum Cert III (Aged Care)
- Cert IV (Aged Care) highly advantageous but not essential
- Nursing student working towards Diploma or Bachelors degree
Skills & Experience - The ability to work with frail and/or confused elders and their families
within the Accreditation Standards and funding guidelines - The ability to accept direction and to work in a team environment with
minimal supervision - Basic knowledge of the ageing process
- Demonstrated basic computer skills
- Recognise own abilities and level of competence
- Medication endorsed highly advantageous
- To have a basic knowledge of Work Health and Safety procedures
- The ability or willingness to speak/learn Dutch and an understanding of
the Dutch culture and history - The ability to work in a culturally sensitive manner within an ethno
specific environment
